Q: Will my child bring artwork home?
Yes!
Students will build a portfolio of artwork throughout the semester. Many projects will go home as they are completed, while selected pieces may remain at the gallery until the end-of-semester exhibition.
Q: Will my child's artwork be displayed?
Yes.
Each semester concludes with a Student Gallery Exhibition, where families are invited to celebrate the students' accomplishments and view selected artwork displayed in the gallery.
Q: Is this a craft class?
No.
The Children's Art Academy is a structured fine art program that teaches real artistic skills through a semester-based curriculum. Students develop drawing, painting, observation, composition, color theory, and creative problem-solving while building confidence and creativity.
Q: Do parents stay during class?
Parents are welcome to help their child get settled before class begins. Classes are designed to encourage independence and confidence, allowing students to fully engage in the learning experience. Observation opportunities will be offered throughout the semester.
Q: What if we miss a class?
We understand that illnesses and family commitments occasionally arise. While individual lessons cannot always be recreated, Ethan will help students stay on track so they can continue progressing with the class.
Q: What if a class fills?
Once a class reaches its maximum enrollment of 15 students, additional applicants will be placed on a waiting list and contacted if a space becomes available.
Q: Is this a drop-in program?
No.
The academy follows a structured semester curriculum where each lesson builds upon the previous one. Students receive the greatest benefit by attending consistently throughout the semester.
Q: What happens if my child decides the academy isn't a good fit after classes begin?
A Pro-rated refund will be issued to the family.
Q: Are tuition payments due all at once, or are payment plans available?
We ask that full tuition is payed up front
Q: Are parents welcome to observe classes?
On occasion, but if it is important to the parent they stick around, they are welcomed to.
Q: What happens if severe weather requires a class cancellation?
If possible the class will be made up, or Class Curriculum will adjust to catch the class up due to the missed days.
Q: Are snacks allowed during class?
Only if there is a medical reason for snacks. - drinks that are lidded or sealed are allowed.
Q: Can students enroll after the semester has already started?
In some cases yes; more than 3 weeks in will likely be a no-go..
Q: How much homework is assigned?
Typically no homework will be assigned but practice at home will be encouraged.
Q: May students work ahead if they finish early?
That will not be the case. there will always be more work to do before time runs out
Q: Will students use technology during class?
No
Q: Are classes faith-based?
There will not be overt religious instruction or coercive language in the classroom. Rather, students will experience wholesome principles, encouragement, and positive character values that naturally reflect the Christian faith that inspires my teaching.
Q: What should my child wear?
Anything that can get relatively messy. There will be aprons/smocks provided; but they don't always protect from accidental art messes (that are typically permanent)
